Meditation to Release Fears and Difficult Situations

Yogi Bhajan, who brought Kundalini Yoga to the United States in the 1970′s, taught this simple meditation as 10 steps to peace. It can cure phobias, fears and neuroses, remove unsettling thoughts from the past that surface in the present, and it can take difficult situations in the present and release them to the universe. All this can be done in 40-60 seconds!

1. Lower the eyelids until the eyes are about 1/10th open and concentrate on the tip of your nose. This can feel awkward at first but helps to cease the mind of thought. Silently say “Wahe Guru” in the following manner (pronounced “wah-heey gu-ru.” )

“Wah” – mentally focus on the right eye. “Hey” – mentally focus on the left eye. “Guru” – mentally focus on the tip of the nose.

2. Remember the encounter, incident or fear that happened to you that you want to be rid of.

3. Mentally say “Wahe Guru” as done in number 2.

4. Visualize and personify the actual feeling of the encounter or fear.

5. Again repeat “Wahe Guru” as in number 2.

6. Reverse the roles in the encounter you are remembering. Become the other person and experience that perspective.

7. Repeat “Wahe Guru” as in number 2.

8. Forgive the other person and forgive yourself.

9. Repeat “Wahe Guru” as in number 2.

10. Let go of the incident and visually see it being released to the Universe.
